The Dinette has now found its final resting place, as the build progresses I have found that most of my original layout plans have required some modifications & adjustments due to the changes in some of the equipment & items we have selected for our Mobile Home.

As the vehicle was to be registered with seating for 4 the original position for the Dinette required it have the forward facing seats placed adjacent to a window frame to allow fitting of the Sash section of the seat belt, at this point I was going to use one of the original Transit seat that were in the Bus when it was purchased. These seats were not designed for seat belts & this restricted the selection of the fitting position.

Once I had completed the Kitchen Cabinetry I found I could move the Dinette further towards the rear which gave more space in the Lounge area, by purchasing a Coach seat with built in seat belts I no longer have a problem with the placement of this unit as the belt system is integral with the seat. the only modifications required was to the mounting system in the floor.

The Dinette table has been constructed to fold back to the window as used in a lot of the latest Caravans, this gave more space & comfort when not dinning. the laminated Acacia wood panel used has an oiled finish which is the same as will be used throughout the remainder of the RV.

The Dinette table extended, i have used this timber for all bench & table tops throughout the RV.

Both sets of seats are to be recovered with a change of Material to better suit the colors in the Vehicle.

I have replaced the forward facing seats with a Coach seat, these incorporate Seat belts which meets the transit seating requirements.

The only work remaining on the Dinette is to recover both seats in the fabric We have selected.

The overhead cupboards above the Sink have been completed, these went in reasonably quickly the only problems being the lac k of a straight roof line to work with as described in one of the photos. the double paneling in the cabinet bottoms did help the fitting of the Led down lights used over the Benches.

Due to the irregular shape of the unsupported ceiling over these cabinets the small beams above & below that create the cabinet frames have been built to hold the ceiling straight.
the lower unit is double paneled to add strength, the upper shelf panel is heavy MDF & the under panel is a Aluminum composite which is reflective underneath. this also helps with the lighting over the Sink as there are Led lights in this panel.

The Wine, Spirits & Vegetable Cabinet is located in the access from the Kitchen to the Bedroom & placed between the Shower wall & the 210 litre Fridge. This unit contains 3 mesh drawers for storage of Vegetables, 1 shelf for Spirits, a Wine rack for 9 bottles & glass racks in the top of the Cabinet. I don’t feel any greater detail is required?

Graham has completed the door for the Pantry, He required large sections of Rosewood framing due to the weight of the pantry slide unit. the Pantry has now been sheeted & trimmed. All of the locking systems are fitted & I am happy with the operation of this item as I thought there might be problems with the weight the door frame needed to move, but all is operating well.

The slide out Pantry unit has been commenced, this unit has been constructed on the very end of the Kitchen bench to the right of the Cook top. The frame work is again built out of pine & the Trim & sheeting in N. G. Rosewood, ( More work for Graham, He has been saving me a lot of time as so far he  has been making all of the doors I require.) The Pantry is at the entrance to the Galley way to the Fridge, Vegetable Cabinet & Bedroom.

Now the Kitchen cabinet frames are completed the bench top can be cut & fitted, with this completed the cut outs for the Sink & Cook top are positioned & removed.

The bench top has now been fitted & the sink unit & Cook top have been fitted, I feel the Black splash backs go well with the Rosewood trim & Acasia wood Bench tops. Graham has cut a solid Rosewood splash back & shelf for behind the Sink.

The dispenser for Paper towels ETC mounted to Micro wave cabinet adjacent to power point & Ventilation switch.

Sink fitted with taps & soap dispenser, the hole between the Flick mixer & filtered water outlet is for selector for Potable/non-potable water selector.

Both sink & Cook top are fitted only trim materials to seal the splash backs & Micro wave Cabinets to be fitted.

The frame work for the Main Cabinets & Bench top have been started, I have cheated a little by purchasing 2nd hand solid timber doors on Ebay. Having 14 doors to choose from I have picked the best & constructed the Cabinets to suit the door sizes I have available.

The bench tops I have chosen to use are Acasia wood panels from Bunnings I will be using this material for all of the Bench & table surfaces through out the RV, These are laminated timber panels 25mm thick. I had a local joinery create an “L” shaped top for the Kitchen to best utilize the space available. This material has a dark oiled finish which I have sanded off & replacing with a lighter Feast Watsons Kitchen oil.

There will only be 2 drawers in the Bench set & both of these will be behind the Cabinet doors, I will be fitting under bench Waste bins & slide out shelves for the Cooking pots & utensils.

Frame work for benches under construction, Due to the height of the benches they cover the lower portion of the Windows but this area will be blanked out when I remove the windows for re-sealing.

The Bench heights are higher the standard as neither of us like the standard heights.

The end corner of the Cabinets will only be accessible from the Bath room area.

The under bench waste system is directly under the sink unit, the left most access will have a slide out storage rack.

These doors are the item purchased on Ebay, they have saved us lot of money at $50.00 for the 14 doors.

Frame work finished & all doors temporarily in place prior to fitting the Bench & refinishing the doors.

The sheeting has been applied to the Micro wave cabinet, the ventilation system fitted & the Estapol has been applied. this is the only item in the Kitchen to be painted to this point as I wanted to see the End result of the Rosewood timber used.

I am very happy with the results!

At this point I should & would like to thank one of my neighbors ( Graham ) as it was with his help & the use of his solid rosewood timber used in the trimming that created the great finish.
